Welcome

"For me, yoga is about creating'space'.

Space in the body, space in the mind and a beautiful space in which to practise".

My Story

Hello, my name is Amanda, thank you for visiting Akasha Yoga.

My wellbeing  journey started shortly after the  birth of my daughter when I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease, which was both extremely painful and tiring.

I started Reiki ,Yoga and sound healing to help alleviate symptoms. The effects on my body, mind and spirit were profound. Eventually began to study so I could share these modalities that changed my life.

What I Teach

SLOW FLOW YOGA

Slow Flow involves moving through a sequence of yoga poses that transition smoothly from one to the next. This style is slower-paced than traditional flow or Vinyasa yoga, giving students the opportunity to focus on placement, engagement, and alignment. While "slow" may suggest gentler movement, it doesn’t mean the practice is easier—it emphasizes muscle activation over momentum. This mindful approach allows us to deeply connect with our bodies, creating a sense of focus, balance, and presence as we move from pose to pose.

ACCESSIBLE YOGA

Accessible yoga offers numerous benefits for both the body and mind. It helps improve mobility and flexibility whilst also building strength and stability to support better posture and balance.

It is ideal for those with limited movement , have injuries, are recovering from an operation or undergoing treatment.

The mindful movements and breathing exercises promote relaxation, reduces  stress and anxiety, encourages better circulation and helps boost overall health and energy levels.

The class offers both seated and standing options, but can done entirely seated if desired.

GUIDED RELAXATION & YOGA NIDRA

Absolutely anyone can practise Yoga Nidra, but it has immense appeal for those who struggle to let go. It also has immense value for those suffering from sleep deprivation, trauma, anxiety or depression.

Yoga nidra is often referred to as "yogic sleep," a paradoxical state of being between sleep and consciousness that's conducive to deep emotional and physical healing, rewiring your brain, and self-exploration.

Nidra helps activate the relaxation response and improve the functioning of your nervous system and endocrine system, which affects your hormones,  helps cells regenerate and repair, and  helps decrease anxiety and improve your mood.

Sound Baths

Sound healing is a truly unique and exquisite healing modality that works in the physical and energetic realms thus creating physical, mental, emotional and energetic well-being.

My instruments create a healing cocoon of sound layers which is experienced not just within the ears but within every cell of the body. Participants are ‘bathed’ in soundwaves, hence the term ‘Sound Bath’

Here are just some documented benefits:

• Reducing stress and anxiety

• soothes nervous system and decrease blood pressure

• Helps you feel relaxed, balanced, and focused

• May help develop intuition and creativity

• Gongs facilitate a fast track to the Theta state brain waves (Theta brainwaves occur most often in sleep but are also dominant in deep meditation)- 20 minutes of Theta relaxation is the equivalent to four hours of sleep!
